Utah’s Booming Real Estate Market

A new report shows that last year was a record breaking housing market for Salt Lake City, Utah, with prices and sales reaching historic levels.

The state’s rapidly growing population has created a housing shortage, according to Jim Wood, who is an economist and senior fellow at the University of Utah’s Kem C. Garner Policy Institute.

For the first time since the 1970s, the number of households in the State of Utah is greater than the number of housing units available. This means that the housing market has a high demand, but an inadequate supply of housing.
