Tailor Built Homes is not derived from a person or a family name, but rather an ideal that we continuously strive for. It is what sets us apart from other Utah home builders. Just like the finest tailor will take a designer suit and alter it to fit the owner perfectly, Tailor Built Homes takes that principle and applies it to the homes that we build.

Each of our unique floor plans is named after a fabric, to keep with the theme of tailoring your home to your needs. the TWILL provides a functional and traditional open concept floor plan, while the HERRINGBONE showcases stunning modern design. Check out our plans page to see what the house plan named after your favorite fabric looks like!

We are a lifestyle home builder. The myriad of house plans that we have created reflect an even more diverse portfolio of buyers that we have interacted with, and the goals they are looking to accomplish in their home. A home office on the main floor speaks to many different lifestyles: a place to work from home, a study room for the kids, a quiet sanctuary to enjoy books or even a craft room. A master on the main floor also serves a wide variety of lifestyles, filling the need for convenience, setting it apart from the other bedrooms in the home for increased privacy, or simply because a couple does not want to move again and the idea of having a master on the main floor satisfies the requirements of growing old in your dream home. While our home styles are varied in style, size and location, we have pin-pointed the things that matter most to our buyers and incorporated them into all of the homes we build.

Your home is your castle, and the key places to showcase this are in the grand master suite and the enhanced kitchen. Relax in a spa-like master suite with double sinks, a walk-in closet (or two!), separate tub and shower, and a large master bedroom with plenty of natural light for your own private oasis. Quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, an oversized island and custom cabinetry are included in all of our kitchens.

For the master organizer, the gourmet chef, the family with a focus on preparedness, or the moms who just need a lot of space to store cereal and fruit snacks, we have included an oversized pantry with built-in shelving in most of our plans. Is a grocery door straight from the garage to the pantry important to you? We are happy to make this, and any other changes you see fit to the plan to fit it to you.

For those who enjoy entertaining, we have designed a butler prep area to keep the mess out of sight as you attend to your guests. If the pantry is still too small for you, we have the pass-through pantry with even more shelf space.

At Tailor Built Homes, we believe that style and functionality go hand-in-hand. A mud room with built-in cubbies and hooks is conveniently located right off the garage. Tall cabinets in both the kitchen and bathrooms provides more room for storage, and also a more convenient height for food prep or getting ready in the morning. Clerestory windows up high on the walls add style to both the inside and outside of the home, providing natural light in the home while maintaining privacy.

It is important for us to free our buyers of the burden of pricing out every small “upgrade” that we feel should be included in the price and the building of the home. Finishes in all Tailor Built Homes include quartz countertops throughout, custom cabinetry, undermount sinks, Delta or Moen faucets, quality Shaw laminate flooring and tile in the bathrooms and laundry and hand-selected designer lighting throughout. While the finishes are the icing on the cake and make the design of the home stand out, the way that we build our homes is arguably even more important. We take great care in making sure our homes are sturdy and well-built from the beginning. Insulation would be quite difficult to change after your home has been built, so we make sure to include highly rated minimum R-19 for walls and R-50 ceiling blown-in insulation. Furnaces are 95% efficiency and water heaters are 50 gallons. Whenever possible, we include 9’ ceilings and 8’ doors on all floors. In some communities in South Jordan and Riverton, we have started to integrate the Zip System for greater energy efficiency and green building. You can be certain that your Tailor Built Home will be tight, energy-efficient and one-of-a-kind.

Our existing communities are in Draper, Riverton, South Jordan, Salt Lake and Farmington. Lot sizes range between .12 and .5 acres. Townhome projects in Sandy and Draper are underway, with a live/work community coming soon to Draper. In short, we have something for just about everyone looking in Salt Lake or Davis counties. However, if you want something custom built on your lot, we’d be happy to arrange that as well.
